My twins are 14 months and I have not taken them on a big grocery shopping trip yet. I have taken them to pick up a few things while in their stroller, but I now want to take them in the double cart on bigger shopping trips and to Costco by myself.

I found someone that makes twin shopping cart covers and they are expensive - 85 USD. But my thinking is that it will be more comfortable for the twins since there's lots of padding and then I can clip on some toys and throw in books and sippy and snacks in the pockets etc. I'm not so much a germophobe but I do like the fact that it's cleaner.

Does anyone have one and found it useful or do you think it's a big waste of money!! Please be honest. Thanks!

I never got one because of the price and I figured I wouldn't use it for long. As far as toys at the store, they never needed it because a box of whatever was very interesting to them. And the germs, I'm not a germaphobe but I did wipe down the bar quickly. :good: I don't think they are uncomfortable sitting in there either, my two never seemed to mind.

We do have shopping cart covers (not twin ones though) and frankly, the kids like sitting in them about the same they do like sitting in the cart, no preference either way. I use them if I remember them and if I don't, I do just like Liz, wipe the cart down.

I used them a lot when I could fit them in a reg cart seat together. I stopped using them about 9 months ago though. It's just easier to wipe down the handle. I'm going to say save your $$!

    Save your money!!
I never used a cart cover, I just wipe it down. If I only need a few things I let them sit in the basket part of the cart on a beach towel and put my purchases in the child seat of the cart. They play with whatever goes in the cart at the store so we don't often take toys in. If we do I clip them on with carabiner clips.

Never used them. I'm not a germaphobe and usually I just give my girls each their own "list" so they can "help" me shop.

I never used them primarily because I was cheap. Up until recently we just used the stroller and my husband would push the cart. If they sit in carts we just wipe them down and make sure to wash hands when we are done.

Never used them. Mostly it's annoying enough to have to take kids out of the car without having to install the thing, that and mine end up in the stroller most of the time anyway because most places don't have carts with two spots (and I don't think the standard covers would work on those anyway).

Waste of money. Plus, with my kids in daycare, there was very little they could get from a shopping cart that they weren't already exposed to at school (chewing on their friends' shoes, etc.).

In theory I like them...but I just don't have the time to take it out, put the babes in them, etc...I also just wipe down the cart with wipes as best I can, and I wipe their hands when I pull them out!

I don't use one but I have one. My mom made it for me, I used it once. It's for a double cart. If anyone wants to buy it I will sell it for $30. It's geared for boys, it's denim one one side and red 'Cars' print on the other side. It's high quality as my mom is a professional seamstress.

I guess we're in the minority here...but we have them and we really like them. We have 2 single ones and used them for shopping carts and for high chairs at restaurants. They are so easy to clean and I just liked the fact knowing that whatever they were sitting in was "clean." They roll up very easily and nicely so they're easy to transport. I feel that we definitely got our money's worth. Our children are bigger now so we haven't used them in a few months, but I don't regret having them at all. Now that they are older and do not sit in high chairs, we use booster seats and they are much easier to clean at restaurants than the high chairs. As for shopping carts, they just don't ride in them. I've actually purchased close to 10 of them over the years and gave them as baby shower gifts.

I'm in agreement with the rest: save the money. We had 2 cart covers but they were not really that great. I did wipe down the bar without it. They never seemed any more comfortable in the cart cover, and it's one more thing to lug around in your car.

I have a twin cover and two single covers and I think I used them all maybe twice each. It was too much fumbling to put them on while holding a diaper bag and a baby. We just wipe down the shopping cart or high chair with wet ones.

I considered buying them and just never did. (didn't think I would use it enough to justify the cost) As others have said, I just wipe it off really quick. Our Kroger actually has disinfecting wipes that anyone can use to wipe the cart handle off with, which would probably be a good idea with all the H1N1 stuff going on. I've never been a germaphobe either.

of course its out of stock, but this is the twin cart cover we have. The Original Clean Shopper for Twins Shopping Cart Cover. $25. Its pretty easy and has two straps that you use, I like it b/c its clean, and can be washed. We didn't even start until after the twins were over a year... probably could have used it before, but it seemed whenever I went shopping that their carriers were easier in case one wanted to sleep...

 I ended up taking ours into Once Upon a Child and got a pretty good return on our once-used twin cart cover...but I'm not really worried about germs (nor do I need to be, no preemie concerns)and I've been shopping with the girls since they were born-- thankfully we're down to one enormous sized cart instead of two carts-- I used to have 2 carriers in one cart and my son & groceries in the other cart-- now we have a store nearby that has a bench seat that seats 2 and still has the cart's regular seat & so I stroll happily and quickly with all of us & our groceries and generally get out before the lunch/naptime melt-down. And another ding for me on the covers is that when I tried it, my girls managed to find a way to get their fingers under & around the cover which meant they were touching all the germy stuff anyway.

    good luck sorting it out!

    Hey Brooklyne,

I know I'm late responding, but just to let you know that if you are still looking into these, "Safety superstore" carries them.
