Why do little boys all seem to wear undies vs. boxers? Is it a poop containment thing? DS really struggles with getting underwear up and down so I was thinking boxers. Good idea or bad?

My older DS has been wearing boxer briefs since he was about 3 or 4. His underwear have been passed down to DS2, and he is 3 now. Most of his underwear are briefs, but he has a couple pair of boxers that no longer fit DS1. I like boxer briefs better because for little, boys, they are almost like shorts, so its not a HUGE deal if they just wear their boxers and a tshirt to bed.

    Edited for clarification

Another boxer brief fan over here. I just started buying these (at around 3.5) and I love them. We have underwear as well but he appears to have outgrown most of them so we will see what I buy next.

We have couple of boxer briefs, too. I'll probably be buying more the next time I need to buy underwear for him.

    Edited for typo

I get frustrated with my 9 yr old, for never tucking in his boxers, I couldn't imagine keeping up with a really tiny guy in that respect. He used to love briefs, until the locker room for hockey. Very quickly it became boxers only, LOL. My 7 yr old prefers boxer briefs or briefs still.
You could always try boxers and see how they work for you.

Not to hijack the post :spy: but where are you all buying these boxer briefs? I haven't seen any for little boys.

Target, Walmart, Kohls, JcPenney's...pretty much anywhere.

Gabe has been wearing regular briefs, but just 2 weeks ago got a pack of boxer briefs and 2 packs of boxers. He loves the boxers, although we have a hard time getting them to not all bunch up at the top at the waist. I'm constantly pulling the legs down into his regular shorts. But, I do really like the boxer briefs. Target had a really good selection when were there a couple weeks ago.

My boys wear boxer briefs. They still need to pull them up and down though just like the briefs. I don't know about regular boxers being easier for potty time. I've always stayed away from them because they seem so bulky.

I was just going to ask this. I have looked in Wal Mart and Kohl's but haven't seen any in the toddler sizes only for the bigger kids. But I would love to try boxer briefs for my son.

We just got the boys their first pair. They love them but they drive me a little nuts b/c they get bunched up when they try to pull their pants/shorts back up. So I am always having to fix them for the boys.

We're not there yet, but my nephews both wear boxers (3 yrs & 7yrs). I think both of them wore boxers starting at around 3. If your DS likes them (or doesn't mind them) I say go for it!

I have gotten them from Gymboree (from their Nana), the Gap, and Target. Now, Whit wears a 4-6 (he is out of toddler sizes). Not sure what the smallest size at Target but the ones from Gymboree and Gap were 4s. Hope this helps!

The smallest boxer briefs I've found are size 4. Personally, those are my fave but the boys are still wearing mostly character briefs. As they outgrow those I'll replace them with boxer briefs. Regular boxers are so loose and baggy...I never understood them! Maybe cuz I've been with dh for almost 18 years and he doesn't wear them!

Childrens Place has XXS (2-3) boxer briefs - they do run a bit small - DS is wearing a 4T

also Kmart and Walmart has Hanes and Fruit of the Loom boxer briefs in 2T-3T - they're back with the baby stuff not with the regular underwear.

No boy experience here[IMG] but what I do with my girls is have them wear a larger size for their panties than their regular clothing size - more comfortable and easier to get on and off. You could try that if the boxers/boxer briefs don't work out.

My oldest tried boxers once, and he hated them bunching up, too. He ended up just wearing them to sleep in. Other than that, he definitely prefers the boxer briefs. My younger guys haven't tried them yet. They still like characters, so I've never looked for them.
