My 12 month old won't take a new style bottle nipple

I had to put new nipples on the boys bottles. My one boy took the new nipple without any issues. However, his twin brother wants NOTHING to do with the new nipple. He went over night without drinking a bottle. Normally in the morning his diapers are very wet, but this time it was dry as could be, not even wet!!! He still refuses to drink with the new style nipple. I have looked and looked for the nipples at stores he prefers, but they don't make them anymore. The new nipple is fast flowing like his other one, and even drops a little fluid in his mouth when turned upside down. He just screams and gets angry that it's not the old, familiar nipple. I'm super frusterated. What can I do to get him to take the new nipple?

Sorry this was so long...it's been a difficult day!

    Thanks for any suggestions.

 So sorry you're having to deal with this. My only other thought is to offer a sippy cup or to spoon feed him his formula - whatever it takes to get it into him. Maybe a completely different method of administering the formula would work. Does he drink water and eat well otherwise? Hope he is okay - I would call your pedi if it persists because you don't want him to get dehydrated (dry diapers are a good indication of that). Hope he cooperates for you soon!

Thank you for your reply and advice!

He drinks a little water in a sippy cup, but not much at all. I have to hold the cup to get the water down though. I've been working hard to get him off the bottle. He eats fruits quite well.

I'll try the methods you suggested. I'm afraid he's going to get dehydrated if he doesn't suck out of the new nipple soon!

 New things are hard! How many days have you given him to adjust to the new nipple?

Today is the second day of no bottle. Thank goodness I can get a little liquid down with the sippy. Might just have to get him off the bottle altogether!

That's what I would do. I'd just drop the bottle altogether and make the switch to sippy cups. Good luck.

I vote for the sippy cup too! The nuby straw cups were the easiest for us as the babies didnt understand the "tip up" concept but they could suck on a straw no problem!
