I fell on my belly, what should I do?

I came home after spending most of the day driving around doing chores, feeling very tired. I tripped on the stairs & fell forward, with my hands breaking the fall but then landed on one side of my belly.
I am so upset and mad at myself that I could have potentially done some damage after all that I've been through to get pg. I was initially very shocked and upset but now that the shock has worn off, everything seems intact but how protected are the babies?
please give me some advice and encouragement. :shok:

Call your OB just to ease your mind, i fell down the stairs when pregnant and was so scared as i had had a previous miscarrage. my dr told me that pregnant woment are not the most gracefull creatures on earth and for the most part babies are well protected in the belly. i was not very far along, not sure how far along you are but please call you Dr so they can check you and the babies and ease your mind. please update (((HUGS)))

I wouldn't panic but probably would call your OB for some reassurance. Pregnant bodies are designed to protect your babies but it's better to get your mind put at rest than to sit freaking out that something is wrong.

I totally agree. If for nothing else, call your OB just to reassure yourself.

Agree with PPs - your babies are well protected in there - that's what your big belly is for. But I would still go in and see the OB and let them know what happend. Laura

When I was prego with my son I slipped on the ice and fell forward on my stomach and I was about 20 -22 weeks prego. Everything was fine, but I went into emergency, and the doctor said that the baby is so well protected inside so it's rarely a problem. I would call just for your peace of mind.

Thank you all so much for your kind wishes & reasurance.
I was in such a panic yesterday evening, especially since I couldn't
get hold of DH. When he got home he was so calm & lovely. We watched a dvd
and he rubbed my feet & said he would take me to the l&d if i needed to go.
Once i had calmed down i felt a bit better. No bleeding, leaking or contractions
that i could feel. I called the midwife/OB office this morning & I'm now in l&d. The u/s
looked fine - 2 lovely babies moving around! And i'm now being monitored for an hour
    for contractions.
I'm so grateful that all is ok & can't believe what I did. DH is now calling me king clutz!

There is a woman that keeps her horse at our farm and she is now nearly 40 weeks pregnant (only one, though, not twins!) - she's still riding her horse, though she did stop jumping at 7 months. She fell off once or twice earlier on and all was well. I also watched a "World's Wildest" or some such show once and a woman went skydiving - her parachute failed and she broke a bunch of bones. Found out in the ER that she was pregant - baby was fine. The human body is an amazing thing. Glad to hear your babies are ok and that you are lucky enough to have such a wonderful DH!!!

There seems to be all sort of crazy stories out there and I'm sure if you are used to heavy exercise that it is ok to carry on with a single pg. I am more of a walking the dogs, pilates, swimming & moderate gym goer. So since I am 40, having twins, tried for years to get pg, had 6 IUI's and 5 IVF cycles - and got pg with the last 4 frozen embryo's, plus had a m/c last year - I've decided to forgo the horse jumping & sky -diving until a later date!! :D
Thanks for your best wishes - all is good and I've started feeling the babies kicking / tapping although I'm not sure which body part of which baby so far.

Awwww...c'mon have you no sense of adventure??? JK - I feel the same. But there's no way that I'd EVER EVER EVER jump out of an airplane. OK, maybe if it was going to crash and that was the only way I'd survive, but.... I just brought it up for comparison's sake. ;) Glad you're feeling them more.
