Never tried it with the twins, however I did it with several of my singleton pg.....Evening Primrose Oil
It doesn't cause labor to start per se, but it does soften the cervix.

Evening primrose oil is an excellent source of prostaglandins, which we already determined readies your cervix for labor. It can be taken orally as soon as 34 weeks, and can be applied directly to the cervix at full term (36 weeks). The general recommendation is two 500mg capsules per day until week 38, at which time you increase to 3-4 per day. The entire capsule can be inserted vaginally (inserted just before bed, it will dissolve before the first time you wake to use the bathroom), or you can use the oil on your fingers for your perineal massage, then also rub on your cervix (assuming you can reach it). Applying directly to the cervix is optimal, but the beneficial ingredients are absorbed through the external skin or the stomach also.

I tried a bunch of things unsuccessfully: long walks, blue and black cohash tincture, nipple stim. Just couldn't face sex, and I have a feeling it wouldn't have worked.

What DID work was castor oil. I was 38 weeks, 6 days along, the twins were my first babes. I took one ounce an hour twice. It got things going, maybe by my spasming and breaking Baby A's water. Not ideal, but I did birth naturally a (long) day later.

    Good luck!

I did salsa (aggressively) with my daughter.

I definitely say that sex. But my husband semen was not strong enough to get things going just to impregnantant me. lol

But I think the baby knows when to come or you can look at it as something is not ready yet.

Im also a fan of the evening primrose oil.I used the caps inserted vaginally at night with my last preg starting @ 36 weeks.I also use black cohosh when I started to have contraction to make them regular enough to get addmitted.I know alot of moms that use castor oil,but the contractions after castor oil are PAINFUL,so be ready if you go that route!
Also you can Pump,an freeze your colostrum the nipple stimulation will help as well.
Im a fan of self inductions....certainly if your body is starting anyway,I should add That Ive never done anything untill I had already started the process naturally.Im 3cms now,and Ill be doing my little routine next week.SEX is also a great way to help(my hubbys not here thats probably why I didnt mention it first)

    Good luck

With my son 3 years ago, I walked A LOT and that got me to start dilating by 38 weeks. I enjoyed being pregnant so I didn't want him to come before his due date. But when he didn't come out 2 days after his due date, and I wanted him to have a cute birth date (ie 5/4, 5/5 or 5/6) I went on overdrive cleaning every square inch of our house on cinco de Mayo, and that did it for me. I went to bed at 9 that night, and my water broke after a trip to the bathroom at 4:30.
    LOL.... Good luck to you!

Our prenatal instructor said not to use castor oil because it stimulates the bowels and cause the babies to pass meconium before birth which can be dangerous if they aspirate it.

I thoroughly intend to start walking a mile on Monday (36 weeks)... every day. At 37 weeks, I may let my husband get lucky - depending on how miserable I am. My ds was born at 37 weeks - big, happy, healthy.

Not to be a downer, but I tried everything under the sun with my singleton and nothing worked. I walked and walked and walked, I even made DH DTD with me! I can't give you much hope, but at least I can tell you I can relate to how you are feeling! Hope it happens soon for you!
