I've heard wonderful reviews of this book, called "Have a New Kid by Friday: How to Change Your Child's Attitude, Behavior & Character in 5 Days" by Dr. Kevin Leman. I am looking into reading it and wondered if anyone has read it or knows of success stories with it?

My kids just turned 2 in May and let me tell you that the "terrible 2's" are in full force here! It's constant defiance, tantruming, whining and grumpiness. We do a lot of different activities and I'm a WAHM...I'm finding myself out of steam and don't want things to get out of control too fast. I really need to get a grip on them and try to manage them instead of them mananging me!

I haven't read that one - I'm staring Love and Logic this weekend though. Let me know how your book goes - if you like it I might invest in that one as well. I am not having trouble with our twins yet - it's our 4.5 year old daughter that is the handful these days!

So have you read a lot by this author?! I know "What a difference a daddy makes" is an awesome read!

How do you handle discipline with your boys? Are they tantrumers?

I haven't read anything from him yet. This is my first. I got the early childhood version. I'm crossing my fingers. :)

My boys are actually very well-mannered, knock on wood! They don't throw tantrums at all. The only issue we have is not sharing toys. They listen very well, so far anyway. :D Discipline so far isn't an issue with them.

DD is, however, an occasional tantrum-thrower. With her it is mostly the whining and taking toys from her brothers, and we have a not listening problem with her too. So, I'm hoping the book will give me some new ideas on how to deal with that, and teach her to listen a little better.

I've got to laugh a bit at the title: change your child's character? That's been the same from day one, and it ain't going anywhere! And magically erasing normal two year old behavior in five days... You know what they say, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

BUT - sometimes good books lurk beneath silly titles, so I look forward to hearing what you think of it! :)

I headed to Borders to check this book out. After thumbing through, I decided it was for older kids. For now, our problem is not "it's not fair" and such...it's more primal. So, ended up with his book "How to make your kids mind, without losing yours"....so we'll see how that goes.

I am interested in him as he is a psychologist as well as a devout Christian that has the firm discipline beliefs that I believe in. We'll see how this one works out! :)
