    Hi everyone,

My twins are breech and transverse so they are scheduling me for a C-section. I'm not due until 10/2 (so mid-September in the twin world) and the doctor's office called today to schedule it. It seems so early. How far in advance was your c-section scheduled?

Also, I'm thinking about asking my doctor if it is possible to do a tubal ligation at the same since we are 100% sure we are done having kids (the twins will be #s 2 and 3 and I'm 36). Did anyone have this done and were you happy with that decision.

    Thanks in advance. :)

I had my c-section scheduled about 2 months ahead of time along with doing a tubal. My boys were #2 and #3 as well. I never made it to my c-section date and I did not regret our decision for me to have a tubal. It is a little hard to swallow that my baby days are over in my mind, but I also know I dont want any more kids if that makes sense. Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

My c-section was scheduled far in advance as well. probably 2 months in advance. sorry I didn't do the tubal so cannot help with that. But I was asked if I want to do that and I just reply no.

My twins are my only children. DH and I had discussed in advance that we could only afford two children but we did not plan on having them at the same time. So, my twins were like yours A was breech and B was transverse. I had the c-section and the tubal done at the same time. I do get a little wistful knowing that there are no babies in my future but I do feel confident that I did the right thing for myself and my family. Good luck on your decision!
I forgot to add, my c-section was scheduled two weeks before delivery (12/10/07-36 weeks and the delivery was 12/26/07-38 weeks).

I think mine was scheduled about 2 months in advance for 37.5 weeks, but I didn't make it my water broke at 36.1 wks. I also had a tubal scheduled and they do it right with the c/s. I had a little bit rougher recovery with it than my first two c/s, mostly because I developed a bladder infection, but my ovaries felt tender too which didn't happen before.

I wish we could have more kids, but I have an almost 50% m/c risk, we have to do fertility meds to get pregnant and stay pregnant, and the twins were babies #3 and 4. I'm content with having my tubes tied, I did NOT want the risk of an accidental pregnancy miscarrying, the two m/c's I had were rough enough to go through. So yes, I'm happy with my decision. :)

my twins were breech and transverse too! my dr. was not really comfortable committing to a vaginal birth even before we knew what their final positions would be, so we scheduled my c-section pretty early, probably at like 5 months. we scheduled it for 38 weeks but i only made it to 35, so the scheduling was in vain...

i also had my tubes tied at the same time, i turned 39 four days after they were born and there was no way i wanted to have more. i am totally happy with my decision and have no regrets, but i also have a history of miscarriage, so to not have that worry is totally worth it.

    keep on cookin' those babies!!

My dr. told me early on that we could not schedule a c/s (per hospital rules) until I was 36 weeks and then we would have to schedule it for when I was 38 weeks along. The twins were #2 and #3 for us as well and I'm 33 (hubby is in his forties) so I decided to have my tubes tied. I don't regret it at all. Sometimes I too get wistful about not having anymore babies but it was and is the right decision for us.

I had to beg to get my section scheduled. They did it 2 months out for 37 weeks but I went into labor at 33weeks. I'm a planner and the Air Force was going to send Jeff on a 2 week mission when I was 37 weeks. Since I was able to get my csection scheduled for that day, they didn't send him. I didn't have my tubes tied as we're still not sure if we want "one" more or not, but I do plan on doing it if I have another pregnancy. I know I would want to keep having babies if I didn't and we really just can't avoid it (financially or emotionally).

My section was scheduled 2 weeks in advance for 38 weeks. I made it to 37 because of pre-e. I also had the tubal with the section. I can't say that I regret it, but if I could change things, I would have had Jeff do the V instead. I have had a few health problems since, and I don't know if it's tubal related or not, but it would be nice to have ruled that out!

We never scheduled my C-section and I had them a little early (almost 35 weeks).

I did however, get my tubes done at the same time. What a relief! We talked about that when I was still very newly pregnant. Like 3 months or so. :) Best decision I made!

I knew early on that my last pregnancy was it... no more babies for me! I knew I was having a scheduled c-section so I told my ob that I wanted my tubes tied then... I had to sign a form at least 3 months before my due date in order for them to do it. So if you're interested in doing that then I would talk to them at your next visit.
I think it depends on the hospital how early you are scheduled. I delivered at a very small hospital and for both the twins and my last one we didn't know what the date was until 3 weeks before.
    Good luck!

I was scheduled for my c sec about 2 months before my due date but didn't make it to my appt. I had them 5 wks early. Mine were breech transverse so once in labor I had no choice but to have a csec. The plus side I had the tubal done right after the delivery which was good because its much more painful to have it done later. If you wait they fill you with gas which goes to your shoulders, painful. If you do it after you deliver you don't notice the difference. As far as being happy with the decision I know it was right for me I am in my 30s and have 4 kids but I do feel a bit broken and sad realizing I wont ever do this again. So look at all you options before you make your final decision.

Mine was scheduled perhaps a month or two out, and I had the tubal at the same time. It went fine, no problems at all.

My c-section wasn't scheduled because both babies were doing great and heads down. But due to complications with baby A I delivered at 36 weeks via c-section (shes perfectly fine now). Regarding the tubal, I wish I did! Seriously no one asked me and I wish they had. I never considered a tubal because I always assumed my husband would get it 'taken care of' and the c-section was last minute. Now even though we went through years of trying and ultimately IVF, I freak out every month (using protection) and beg my husband to get things taken care of! I'm 37 years old and we have our hands full with the girls and don't wish to have more.

My twins were breech as well. They were breech from the time they could be seen on an ultrasound. They told me at around 22 weeks that I would be having a c-section. I ended up having preeclampcia and delivered at 34 weeks

My twinkies were A breech and B transverse with A being 2 lbs less than B. We scheduled my c section I think three weeks out for 38 weeks 1 day. I ended up in labor and had the c sec at 37 w 5 days. I also had my tubes tied at the same time. It took me until probably last year (so when the twins turned three) to not get that gooshy, new baby ache when I saw/held a baby. I'm so totally over that now! With surprise twins, there's no way I was risking yet another surprise pregnancy when we thought we were done with 3! It was my only c sec but I didn't have any trouble afterwards.
