Anyone have a biter?

For some reason the search function does not work for me or I would do a seach on the topic. My 21 month old daughter will not stop biting her sister. The poor kid has bite marks on her arms, legs and even her feet! I don't know how to stop this behavior. Any suggestions? TIA!

 

No advice, but we're going through the same thing. My DS even bites his sister in her face! Luckily, he hasn't bitten anyone else at Daycare. Except for the teacher. He did bite the teacher once & I was mortified. Anyway, I'll be interested to hear if you get any really good advice.

 

My DD did this to DS. I kept putting her in 2 minute time outs. She goes into her crib and I close the door. It didn't take long before this happened was curbed. GL!

 

Yes! Jake was really bad about a month ago and I actually posted a picture of Josh's back covered in bite marks. Knock on wood, he has not done it in about 2 weeks. Jake will do it when he's mad or if Josh takes his toy.

Now Josh is doing it to me for fun At first he would come up and pretend to bite. On Monday he bit me for the first time and he's been doing it ever since. He'll come up and put his mouth on my feet, toes, knees, arm and very slowly will bite me. Then he'll laugh. It's hard not to laugh with him but it hurts! I've been telling him "no bite" but it's not working.

They are both teething so I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but I hope it stops soon.

 

Jacob is my biter. Jackson has bitten me and Jacob each exactly once. Jacob has bitten Jackson only, but many times.

I think it corresponds to teething because it happens in spurts. Most everyone I know who has challenges with this has an actively teething kid. I did find that keeping the teething pain under control w/ Tylenol & Teething Tabs helped to reduce the frequency. Beyond that, we were firm with TO's and that did help. Good luck! :hug:

 

I agree with Erin. I noticed that mine will bite when they are teething. Still we did TO's and I can say that neither of them have done it in about 3 weeks.

 

I forget my two had most of their teeth at 12 months. I agree with the tylenol every 4 hours start it first thing in the morning. Often the teething would be for about 2 or 3 days and then ease up and then start again. I would watch them and notice it would happen during specific toys or areas of the room. Teething often comes out as anger in toddlers so if you see them getting angry when playing with a toy I often would think teething as the culprit instead of lack of sleep or hunger. Hunger usually seemed more whinning and tired more crying / clingying to me.

 

Yep, I have a black and blue bite mark on both shoulders from ds. OUCH!! I usually scream ouch out of reaction when he does it cause it REALLY hurts! But I also think it is teething related. I wouldn't know the first thing how to get a one year old how to stop this..do they really understand? My ds laughed at me when I said ouch!! So I just take my battle wounds and hope those chompers come in quick! When they get really fussy with the teething, I give motrin and tylenol, alternating. It works for us.
