Can I vent for a minute?

So last night, I found out that my dad is going to a heart valve replacement tomorrow so I'm worried about him. My aunt who is a lovely woman but sort of a basket case keeps calling me all in a dither and I don't feel like I can do anything for her but she keeps calling anyway. My sister is all freaked out because she has to be at the hospital with dad to make decisions if they get in there and find out more needs to be done so I feel bad because as a stay at home mom, I can't exactly take a day off work and go be with her unless my husband takes a vacation day and I don't think he has any left.
There are about 8 huge flies in my house that are wily little a-holes that are seemingly untrappable and unswattable which makes me feel like my house is a disgusting pit.
AND my boys are giving me the best show of their "highly persistent personalities" to date. I don't know how many times I've pulled them off things they aren't supposed to be climbing on today. The big fat capper on it is that I feel like its my fault that they're acting up because they are feeding off my upset mood.
I have got to pull myself together!!!!!!

I feel for you....you're a great mom and daughter, wishing a speedy recovery for your dad.

I am glad we have this 2nd year forum, it seems like it is really an age pattern of what's happening.
I swear, now all they want to do is climb, they climb in front of my eyes !!!! I say, duuude, I am RIGHT here watching you!
you gotta take it with humor, it's quite funny sometimes....I think I have to take away their little tikes kitchen, they climb on it and tilt it...monkeys!
and they instigate each other too....

just wanted to tell you there will be good days too, remember those? last friday, my son got 102 fever, his second molars are coming out (before his corner and 1st molars!!) so needless to say he is quite the treat to be around. my kids are very good, calm and behaved kids but now, I think they really whine and clinge 80% of the day. same day my daughter felt and got a cut by the eye including a huge bruised eye....so my last friday was hell and so was the weekend, I got sick too, and now my daughter has Kaden's cold and my husband too

I know it's hard sometimes not to get stressed, and you're right, they really feed on it and get way more irritated if you are. you do the best you can, we're only human. think about all the other 99% of times where you give them love and laughters.

:hug: I wish I had better advice for you but I just hope your day gets better! I hope your father does well in surgery, I know it's hard to not be there but you are doing what's best for you and your family. :hug:

I know flies bug the heck out of me and I don't know how they wind up in my house (except that my kids like to stand in the door way and take that moment to think whether they really want to go out or not...) Here's hoping tomorrow is a better day for you!

 

I can so relate to this. When I try to get the flies and I miss, it infuriates me! I've found that chasing them while spraying them with a bottle of windex or some other spray cleaner helps. It doesn't always get them on the first shot, but it usually slows them down enough to where I can catch up to them and go in for the kill.

Sorry you're going through such a rough time. I hope your dad's surgery goes well and that after tomorrow it will be a big weight lifted off you.

Thank you everyone for the support It's really great to have a place to come to when things get a little overwhelming.
I just found out that when they went in through the vein to do the valve replacement, they decided that my dad needs at least single, maybe double bypass so nothing is happening today. They are scheduling him for open heart.
Today is a new day, I'm feeling a lot better somehow despite the concerning news.
Oh, and I went on a fly offensive last night and killed most of them! So at least theres that!
