i dont put my boys down for a nap.
they are up when they're up and sleep when they sleep. is there a time (how many weeks) when i should start laying them in their cribs and napping? they are in a co-sleeper right now in my room.

At 2 months, I let mine sleep whenever and where ever they slept. I think it was at 4 months was when I attempted some type of daytime nap schedule in cribs. It might have helped us to start it sooner, I'm not sure. Mine did not get into a nap schedule until 6 months, when they went down to 2 naps. The schedule that worked the best for us was the 2-3-4 schedule (1st nap 2 hours after waking, next nap 3 hours after waking from first, in our case 4 hours later was bedtime). Good luck!

    I believe I started with a schedule between 3 & 4 months.

From the beginning my girls slept in their cribs, so when they fell asleep i would cart them to their beds. around 3 months is when we started a regular routine...a schedule, well, you could try, but it will change and it still changes for us on a daily basis.

At that age, mine slept wherever and whenever. At about the 4 month mark when they started taking a predictable morning nap, they went into their crib.

It was 3months for us, only because they refused point blank to nap downstairs anymore.

We started a flexible routine (3-hour feed-waketime-sleep) at 1 month... and had the babies learn to sleep in their bassinet from day 1. Naptimes varied a lot at the age of your babies, but they slept in their beds when they slept. I think it really helped them learn how to sleep without props (swings, being rocked, motion, etc). For us, it worked really well. The babies started STTN at 12 weeks and have ever since, and they usually have really good naps (of course, some days are crazy!).

I'd say it couldn't hurt to start putting them down in their cribs or bassinets to nap. Never to early to start good habits, if you can.

So far for us, my twins sleep wherever and whenever during the day still. Their naps are so sporadic. I have no idea when I will begin a nap routine. :unknw:
