I notice that my babies ( 2.5 weeks old b/g twins) start crying aeound 5pm in the evening and it last until 8-8:30pm first day I thought I ate something. but next day was the same and today it was the same again. it look like they stomach hurt they always looking for food even through they just finish eating. ( and ate around 100ml each) what is it? and how long will it last. they stop crying when someone hold them on hand/arm. but this week I had my mother but next week I am along. Please advice.
It's called the 'witching hours'! It's actually very common. The biggest thing that helped me get through it every night was cluster feeding them. They ate smaller amounts more frequently until I put them down for the night. Other than that, swaddling, white noise, dim lights.
oh yeah, the dreaded witching hours.. from what i recall, for us it started at around 4 weeks and finally ended at around 8 weeks. it was a rough month, i was alone alot too and sat in the rocker/recliner every night for 3 hours holding both babies and rocking. good luck, i hope it passes quickly for you!
Pacing the floor worked for me!!! That an cluster feeding as Becky pointed out. Yes, the witching hours.. I remember them well!
 I am SOOOOO sorry you are going through that time period. There is no way around it - it just sucks! Mine thankfully took turns most of the time but it did last a few weeks and cluster feeding definitely did help. The other things that helped after I finally tried them were the ideas from The Happiest Baby On The Block. Have you read that? For my babies none of those things helped EXCEPT during the witching hour when they were just inconsolable. I swaddled them nice and tight, gave them a Paci, laid them on their sides, then put them on my legs and I did a windshield wiper type motion with my legs. This would calm them down within a few minutes and sometimes even put them asleep. Then I could put them in the swing (still swaddled with Paci). If the other one was in freak out mode I could move on to that one. DH had a hard time with calming them when they got really going so I just took turns with the babies and a lot of deep breaths. If you are able to tandem breastfeed I would do that. Sit down in the evening when they are starting to get cranky, basically do a nursing marathon, and just watch some TV if you are able. Honestly that is how I got through the first couple months because they ate SOOOO much in the evenings. It was actually relaxing and cut down on the screaming fits. I wish you lots of luck getting through this. Unfortunately I think everyone goes through it. If there are people out there that don't - WOW you are lucky! Anyway - try the Happiest Baby on the Block remedy when it gets crazy. It amazingly does work. My babies were not swaddlers and did not take the Paci back then except for those times.
I agree, the witching hour (or hours as the case may be). I fed mine constantly from 5:00 until bedtime for probably the first two months. The good news is they do outgrow it!
My girls did the same thing. They are getting better now nearing the four month mark but last couple of days not so good. Overall though getting much better. Could not have made it through without the baby swing
We're going out for a walk during the worst part of that time... they like riding in the stroller - they look around or catnap. If it's too hot and muggy for a walk - I put in a movie and hold them both until bathtime!
Oh bless them, i hope it passes soon for you! When i was alone i would swaddle them both up and turn off the tv and bright lights and rock and ssssh the most irritated and pout the other in the swing. The swing was my hero during those nights. Just try and get through it as best you can and keep in mind that it will pass and your babies will be fine by the end of it.
Thank you girls. I will try to do my best. I still don't have double stroller to go outside with them and might be I will use my kolcraft with carseats to walk with them. hopefully I will get my double stroller in a week and will go outside more with them.
