when should 3 month old go to bed?

The girls are starting to go for a while longer at night. If I feed them around 8-9 and put them in bed, they can usually get to 4 or 5am without needing to eat anymore. Obviously, this has helped me to sleep better. But I'm wondering...should I be getting them in bed by 7ish--to hopefully some day have them going from 7-7? Or will that just come later? If I do that, then I'm pretty much back up feeding them at 1, then 3, then 6. Once they do that 6 hour stint...they are back to every three hours. Am I on the right track here?

Our bedtime was late, around 9, at that age. It slowly worked itself earlier as they got a little older. Sounds like you are on the right track to me!

I definitely think you are on the right track. I would also say - watch their cues. My LOs are just a bit older than yours, and my DD makes it very clear when she is ready to go to bed. My DS is not as obvious, but he still finally tuckers out and can't take any more awake time.

Good luck and I hope those nights keep getting longer!

Ours were going to bed around 9 or 10 at that age. Now, they go to bed at 8.

Yep same here. We started working back the time from 11pm all the way to 7 pm.

Same here. Then it was 6.30 for a month or two and more recently i have been having to send them up around 5.30pm. sSounds like they are doing really well!

We take the boys upstairs at 6:30. It does not matter if they are getting just a bottle or bottle and bath. But it is 6:30 and they are layed down in their cribs no later than 7:15. They are asleep until 6:30 the next morning.

Sounds like you are down just fine!

I was SOOO tired when they were 3 months old, so I fed them around 6pm then they slept and I did too. I considered the 9/12/3 feedings our nighttime feeding. It was very exhausting but worked for us. Their "nighttime" was from 6:30-5am (when they woke up for the day on their own). I'm not sure if this helps, but it's what we did.

That is exactly what my twins were doing at 2+ months. Then, just recently, they started going to sleep between 6 and 7. Not only that, but Addison STTN now but Kyle still wakes at 3am for a feeding. This happened just before they turned 3 months and it seemed like it happened overnight, without any coaxing/training from us.

I'd say if it works for you, just keep doing what you are doing. I think they will let you know when they are ready for an earlier bedtime. ;)

Mine have always had a late "bedtime" because dh and I are naturally night owls. So their bedtime was around 1am at that age, and they gave me their 4-6 hr stretch then.

Gradually we've worked it back to 10-11pm bedtime and they sleep until 10am the next morning. It's what works for us and what we prefer :) I didnt' want them going to bed at 6-7pm and then up at 6am when I haven't gone to bed until 1am!
