Thursday I will be 34 weeks exactly according to the doctors and I just got word that my OB wants to schedule the c-section for Thursday...yes THIS Thursday!!!!! Her philosophy is that she would prefer that this be a scheduled delivery rather than an emergency so in her mind if we push the pregnancy much passed Thursday things will become an emergency situation rather than a nice casual operation and birthday.

This is OK with DH and I because the boys are perfect, 8/8 fetal scores everytime, lung functions working, etc. We know we are in good hands at the hospital, it's one of the best in the area.

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I can't even tell you how excited this makes me.

Woo Hoo!!! I've been stalking your blog hoping to hear some news mama! You have done SO WELL!!! A nice planned c-sec sounds much better than an emergency one to me too. That's awesome that your boys are scoring/doing so well! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

ETA: Are you still in the hospital?

34 weeks seems early to me, though i understand the want for control over it all...the midwives/ob's i see (they are in the same practice) won't do a schedule section until after 38 weeks...

Yeah, 34 seems early to me too ... I'm just a few days ahead of you, and my doc has me scheduled for Aug 11th (38w3d) ... is there a reason why they want you to go so early?

I would just be prepared that you are probably looking at a few weeks of NICU time ...

thursday is early but i've got pre-eclampsia and gestational diabetes so that is why they are wanting to do it so early.

i've been in the hospital since friday sooo that's why the need to have them early is present.

and i know the NICU risk, minimum 7 days but i've already gotten the two steroid shots.

my original c-section date was for 37 weeks.

:yahoo: Congrats! I remember when you thought you'd be lucky to make it to 29 weeks! My boys were born at 33 weeks 1 day and spent 1 month in the NICU. They were grower/feeders for most of the time, but Ryan had IUGR that caused the early delivery. Good luck Thursday!

Congrats and good luck on Thursday! My doctor told me he would deliver my twins at 38 weeks and then at my next appointment he had changed his mind and said 36-37 weeks. I am all for an early delivery if it means they have a better chance!

well they aren't taking the babies tomorrow. i'm too stable and the babies are doing too well. i am pleading now for them to at least send me home on bed rest but they are keeping me until friday most likely.

i have to say i'm disapointed.

I understand that you are dissapointed, but I agree with the PP's that 34 weeks is to early if you can avoid it. I know you have had a long road getting to where you are now, but you are in the final stretch. You can do this, and the longer you can keep those babies in the healthier they will be. Best of luck to you and your babies!

 I am so sorry they aren't ready to take them, it's such a hard thing to want to have your body back yet want the best for your babies...I'm struggling with that right now and it's not even for "good" reasons like you. Hopefully they can hang on a little bit longer or you can at least go home. This road is so tough and I know you've had quite a tough time of it momma! Take it one day at a time, that's all I can say :( as that's what I'm trying to do. Is there any new hobby that can fill your time in the hospital?

I was in the hospital for 7 days with my last baby while she was in the NICU and I remember going sooo crazy but then I also didn't want to leave her there either. It's not easy at all but you can do it!!!!! You've made it this far!!! Please keep us updated!!!
