my boys are 7 weeks old...i just want to make sure they're getting the most out of their day while i'm still home with them.

    we go on daily walks
i read to them every night
they play on their activity mat
get 'mobile' time in their cribs

thats about it...i try and talk to them the entire day and keep their scenery different. they generally sit on the couch in their boppies and i feel guilty just letting them sit there all day.
any other suggestions of things i can do or am i doing everything i already can.

I think you are doing great with your 7 week olds! There is not much to do with them and it sounds like you are doing everything you can!

i just feel so guilty when they sit on the couch when they are awake. i feel like i should be doing 'something' with them to keep them active. lol.

I felt the same way because mine spent a lot of time on their boppies at that age. But once they get a little more older and more interactive with the world, they will start to be able to do more. Hang in there!

I always felt the same way but, really, at 7 weeks there isn't much more you can do. It sounds like you are doing so much to entertain them already & are doing a great job! When mine were that age, I would just carry them from one room to another with me, laundry room when doing laundry, kitchen while cooking, bathroom while cleaning, etc. & keep up a running commentary of what I was doing. "Oh, this is Owen's shirt I'm folding", "Now I'm going to wash this plate." I'm sure they were wishing I would just shut up some days! It's tons of work with two of them to move them around but the change in scenery is always good!

At that age mine spent a lot of time in swings and bouncys--in the evening they would sit in their bouncy chairs in the kitchen and we would do our favorite -- "The Cooking with Mommy Show." They loved it--now they get bored, it's as if they're saying "This show is a rerun--we want something new!" Before you know it, they will be demanding to be played with!

We were doing the exact same! With some tummy time.

Sounds like you are doing a great job. Even when your babies are just sitting there they are learni9ng by taking in their surrounding. Don't feel guilty. You are doing a great job!!

there's not much TO do with them at that age! i used to bring them in the bedroom with me and let them watch me fold clothes, i'd read the same books over and over (in different ways to entertain myself lol), i'd have them in their bouncy chairs facing me while i sat inbetween them and i'd sing the same songs over and over...
don't worry... as the weeks go on, they get older and are able to do more and more! :)

I agree with everyone...You are doing a great job! Mine do the same as yours. Before my current career, I was a music and band teacher, so I incorporate music into everything we do....For instance, when they are on their playtime mat, sitting in their boppies on the couch with me, etc, I bounce their body parts in time with the music, or I try to have them "hold" the rattle and move their hand/rattle in time with the music. They don't really seem to be too aware of what's going on, though! I think it's more just to keep me entertained!!!

You are doing great. I second the "bring them with you around the house" - I rotated mine between bouncers (we were give three different kinds so there was a bit of variety there), colorful quilts on the floor and the swings (starting at 8 weeks, didn't like swings before that. I also took turns picking them up and dancing around the room with them to music, and they spent a lot of time watching me fold laundry, LOL! On their blankets I often gave them one of those lamaze toys with all the crinkly fabric and plastic rings to play with and look at. We did a lot of walks with our dog too. Soon they will be rolling around all over your house and you can put them in bumbos and high chairs too, but right now they are content just to look at everything around them!
