My son Trent has still not cu his first tooth. I know it's on it's way because his ID brother got his about 2 weeks ago. Trent has been impossible. So cranky and just unpleasant unless I hold him. I give Tylenol or Motrin every now and then but I wonder if I should just continue to give ( you know every 6 hours or so.) Did anyone do this. How long do I have to deal with this jerky baby??? :grr:

 I hope that tooth comes soon and you get your non fussy baby boy soon. :( I did give Motrin/Tylenol every four/six hours. :good: I guess I was hoping it was relieving some of their pain and discomfort. :pardon: Good luck!!

I alternate between the two meds at feeds and then i re-***** the need for it when we start the day. Lately Amber can manage without and i just give her a dose when she starts knawing on things, Ruby on the otherhand has been dosed up for what seems like forever because she is really suffering!! Feel so sorry for her. I hope it comes through soon for your boy.

I usually only used Tylenol or Motrin at night unless they were seriously cranky. But I had fairly easy teethers. I don't think it would hurt to give them something every 4-6 hours if its only for a few days. I hope he is back to normal soon!

i hate to break it to you but our ID boys cut their first teeth about a month apart. jacob's teeth were right at the surface but didn't actually cut through until this past friday. so you might not be as close as you think!

we medicated when it seemed like he was uncomfortable enough to justify it. we didn't medicate for crankiness, but if it seemed like it was interfering with eating or sleeping we gave them some motrin. and when it was really really bad we medicated every night for about 5 days, right before bed, just as part of the routine.

Same here, well 3 1/2 weeks apart for our boys. We didn't medicate at all, just gave the boys plenty of things to teeth on.

Sometimes it seems like my kids were always on something when they were teething. I try not to, but if it helps, especially at bedtime, got for it! Teething hurts & is hard! (on everyone)

:gah: Thanks Ladies. Looks like I may still have a few weeks of torture. Thankfully it's not affecting his sleep, just every waking moment is crabby!! I guess it's better than both at the same time.

I think that I medicated them every night(Motrin) when I knew they were uncomfortable, and tried to just use Orajel during the day, before bottles/feedings. I hope the little bugger pops through soon so that you get your happy boy back!

We've been medicating Jack with Motrin every night for the last month because his teeth have been hurting him so badly! He kept waking up at night so we knew he was in pain. Well, now the teeth are mostly broken through, and he's still waking in the night even with Motrin. I stopped dosing him last night and will address the waking thing as a behavioral issue now. Sadly, I think he started to like the cherry taste of the Motrin; he'd open his mouth and smack his lips as the syringe came toward him!

We haven't felt the need to medicate during the day; just gave lots of chew toys/teething rings and tried to keep them distracted.

Good luck with the teething, and I'm glad it's just crabbiness, not sleeplessness!
