I've just started using the Munchkin Food Feeder and I absolutely love it. I was worried at first that it would be a huge mess but it's so not! Yay! My LO's aren't really getting the hang of finger food eating and the Pedi said this may help them with chewing. I have tried it with bananas and they are really doing great. The only thing is cleaning it is a pain in the butt! Do any of you have this and do you have any tips on cleaning it? Also, any ideas for foods I can put in there that would be good at this stage (7 1/2 months)?

Bananas are actually the hardest food to get out of it! I made sure to soak it in hot water right away after they were done, and then used a scrub brush to clean it. I put anything and everything in it. From frozen fruit and veggies, soft cooked fruits and veggies, to biter biscuits.

I agree bananas are tough. I have put peaches, mangoes, plum, and nectarine. I never did veggies in there, but I am sure you could. You really could put just about anything. I think I even tried chicken in there, didn't work so goo though lol.

I avoided bananas at all cost! I used a toothbrush to scrub it & it worked quite well. I used it for all sorts of fruits. Also, I found I could stick an ice cube in it & they would suck on it for a long time. Great time waster while I was making dinner!

Oh, too funny. I was going to say to stay away from bananas!!!

Watermelon and grapes were favorites with ODD.

Watermelon is a super favorite at our house! We've done nectarines, pears, and bananas and I will not for a long long long time do a banana again!! Yuck! I was thinking about trying an ice cube:)

Yep, we made the mistake of putting bananas in them also and it was a big mess and pain to clean. Like everyone else has said, we put frozen pureed food cubes in (sweet potatoes, summer squash, carrots, pears, etc...). We've also put ice cubes in on hot days when we are out and about... not messy and it cools them off and keeps them busy for a while.

I'm finding that when I clean it (just with water and my hands), little blue pieces come off. We've only used the feeders 3 times. Has anyone else had this problem? Are they still safe to use?

That;s strange. Never happened with mine and I've boiled them.

When they're teething, freeze babyfood in ice cube trays and put those in it.

Little blue pieces of fabric or plastic? You can call munchkin and ask them what to do, they might send you new mesh baggies.

it's pieces of blue fabric. it seems to be coming off where the fabric ends at the inside of the feeder. (Kind of like a piece of fabric fraying at the edge).
