I'm new in SY--my twins just turned 1 last week--so hi!

We are hoping to move across the country sometime this fall--probably when the twins are 14 or 15 months old. DH would like to take the trip slow and see some sights along the way. I'm wondering how I'm going to keep two toddlers happy on such a long trip. We also have an almost 4 and a 5 year old. Any tips for surviving? Or even enjoying the trip? :unknw:

Hmmm... I was going to suggest you fly and get someone else to drive your stuff. But I guess if you take it slow and make lots of fun trips along the way you will all survive and have fun (hopefully). GL!!! And welcome to SY!

:welcome: to the SY! How exciting to be moving across country! I know some people have recommended the car DVD players as way to keep kids occupied. I've never driven cross country with the kiddos before, but we did drive from PA to Michigan at the end of May and we kept the kids occupied with their books, toys, our feeble attempts at singing. Our kids did a lot better then we expected with the drive. Good luck!

DITTO!! DVD players saved our sanity when we take long car trips. Elmo seemed to be the only thing my twinnies watched at 14/15 months, you'll have to experiment and see what holds their attention. Also I would plan on it taking at least a few hours longer if not more when travelling with kids as you'll likely need to stop every few hours to let them run etc.

We just took a camping trip which should of took 6 hours to get there, but it took us 9. Which is ok. We were in a rv and had a blast. LOTS of snacks, and we brought multiple bags of didn't types of toys and rotated them around nap times. When we needed to stretch we stopped and played. good luck

I just bought a dual screen portable DVD player for our move to VA from Florida. I'll have to let you know if we figure anything else out in the next few months.

Well, my DH has a zero-tolerance policy on screen time for little guys, so we're going to have to stick to the toys and such rather than get a dvd player. (And frankly, I think my sanity would do better with screaming than with Elmo.) Did anyone have kids who enjoyed the magna-doodles that young? My preschoolers love them, but the babies haven't really gotten into coloring yet. What I remember from when the bigger kids were little was the constant dropping of toys problem. Did anyone find out anything that helped keep toys within reach?
