i called the midwife, she told me to stay home unless i lose my mucus plug, my water breaks, or the contractions consistently get to be 2 min apart...right now i have a horrid consistent pain in my back that just will NOT go away no matter what i do, and i'm having contractions every 3-4 min apart, for about a min...i tried to lay down and fall asleep..yeah, that didn't work at all....so now i'm up..i woke jason up...this has progressively been getting more and more since about 9 last night....i was just "crampy" then...when jason went to bed around 12:30-1 i was having contractions, but the back pain was less noticeable...so any guesses on how long i could be doing this? a different midwife goes on shift at 8 in the morning....that's just under 5 hours from now...i'm thinking that if it's still like this (or even MORE intense) i'll call and talk to her...i feel bad because i woke jason up...he called in to work, and now i'm trying to get him to go back to bed, but i don't think he will...on a weirdly positive note, to occupy myself, i'm folding all the laundry izzy tossed on the floor and i'll be able to pack my bag....oh, i'm NOT dehydrated...the pee is clear, so that option is out!

I don't have any experience, but I've been to L&D three times with contractions. The last trip was a 5 day stay to stop labor. The docs always tell me that if I feel weird or things feel "different" then I should just come in. They said they would rather me come in and be monitored for a while and nothing happens than not come in at all.

But, I am still pretty early. Your midwife probably doesn't expect to stop your labor. So, she is probably just trying to save you a bunch of time sitting in the hospital that you could just be at home.

Of course, when it doubt, its safer to go and get checked out!

    How are you feeling now??
I also went to L&D twice before my girls scheduled c-section date ~ I agree with the pp, when in doubt go get checked out :good:
Good luck & keep us posted!

i called the midwife last night and she told me to stay home unless i lost my plug, my water broke, or my contractions became less than 2 min apart....with having had 4 inductions i'm doubting whether the first 2 will even happen...about 4:30 in the morning i was just so exhausted i crashed on the couch..i slept very soundly (first sound sleep in a while) for about 6 hours and woke up to the same thing...the pain is predominantly in my back with the contractions coming around to the front...the contractions seem to be about 3-4 min apart...and i fell STUCK! jason said "it's too much to ignore, but it's not enough to get anything done about"....i called the midwives back earlier this afternoon, a different midwife was on...she told me i could go in if i wanted to, but unless i'm active labor on my own, they won't do anything to help me along because i'm not even 36 weeks yet (i will be on wed)....a friend of mine has an extra exercise ball and she brought it over for me and that helps with the pain quite a bit...i went for a long walk with izzy (he was in the stroller..my older kids are either at home up north (katy beth) or in wisconsin til august with their grandma)and that just made what i have going on seem more there, but didn't move things along so to say....so i'm sitting here, wondering how long i can be "stuck" here...i feel bad because i woke jason up and had him call in to work for today (he works at wal-mart) and now he's trying to nap because he didn't sleep well at all last night...i'd really like SOMETHING to happen now...either for this to taper off and go away, or to pick up and become more...but something is better than being stuck...

i did eventually go in...it was a check the cervix, be monitored, go home kind of thing...i didn't take my procardia because i was HOPING it was the real thing with how it felt..next time i'll just take it and not have the hassle! no dilation, still really thick and high...all which didn't surprise me...jack doesn't like to be on the monitor...so i had to have a nurse standing there holding it, chasing him around to get a good consistent reading on him...i peed in a cup and i'm assuming they checked it for infection and what not...we were there just over 2 hours...our shortest trip yet! i came home with ambien (from them) and also took a procardia (it's the 10mg dose) and went to sleep...i felt very rested when i woke up...the nurse reminded me last night that i am going to continue having contractions, so when they get too uncomfortable, take the procardia because the contractions aren't doing anything, so why suffer through them, kwim?
