Hello everyone. I was a full C cup before pregnancy. Now I am a double D at only 22 weeks. I am really starting to ache a bit up there and I am really afraid of stretchmarks, of course!
I've shopped for maternity bras, but they all say "light support maternity/nursing". What is the best bra for support NOW? I'll worry about nursing bras later on!! I'm only "halfway" done!!!

    Thanks so much!

I live in Canada so there aren't as many options as I'd like, but this is one bra I LOVE!!! I bought it from a bra store in town for triple the price thought I'd hate it and loved it so much I am still wearing it! I will be ordering a few more from the website soon for when these babies come. I like this one cuz it's comfy and has an underwire so you don't have to feel "frumpy", the girls can still look good heehee. And even wearing it pregnant right now the underwire doesn't cut into my belly like most others do so give it a look. :)

    Anita Maternity/Nursing Lace Bra

    Good luck in your search!!

I went to Macy's and bought some very supportive Bali bras.

I'm on the small side so have just been going up cup sizes with regular bras. (so far from A-B cup)

I was wondering when is the right time to get a nursing bra??? Do you wait until just before you deliver or until the milk comes in??? This is all new to me:)

I'm in England and the bras that I wear are from here, but a really good place to look if you're not having any luck in stores is the website www.figleaves.com. They have a great selection.

In terms of when its time to switch to a nursing bra, remember that your breast might grown considerably after you milk comes in so you may not want to invest in nursing bras too soon. I think a good wireless bra is what they recommend. They prefer you not to wear wire too much because they don't want you to constrict the milk glands.

Trust me, I feel your pain. I went from a 34DDD to a 36J!! Its incredible. I have no idea what I'm going to do when my milk comes in.

    Good luck to you!!

They generally suggest not to invest in an actual nursing bra until a couple weeks before you are due because there can be such change. I have bought a couple of normal bras through this pregnancy. I had my husband pick up a simple sports bra type nursing bra last week so that i have something when the twins are born, but am waiting till they come before investing. I did the same thing with my other kids and it worked out great.

I got these cheap awesome sports bras from Walmart! My boobs kept changing sizes and I kept needing bigger ones so I didn't want to invest in an expensive one. Not really pretty for going out but very supportive and comfy for being around the house!

Yes, that's what people keep saying- to wait until a little later to buy a "good" nursing bra. I'm looking for a comfy bra to wear now though! This is all a very expensive process! ;)

    Thanks for the advice! :good:

"Frumpy" is a great way to describe it! It's just that now they're so big- they're uncomfortable and they keep growing! I feel like they're in competition with my belly! I'm really worried about the stretch marks that may begin to show and thought that if I had more bra support, that would help- but i'm a first time mom, so I have no idea!

Everything in the baby world is expensive! I might as well suck it up! You may get multiple discounts for kids stuff, but most likely not for bras?!

I certainly don't want to restrict my milk, but my doctor's nurse didn't know of any places in our town to buy a "good" maternity bra- only baby stores for nursing bras. I didn't know what the difference was anyway.

    Thanks again!

See, I was wondering about sports bras... but someone told me they'd affect my milk production later on and it wasn't a good idea to wear them... I'd LOVE to "flatten" these babies out! They keep GROWING!! And my husband's overseas, so they're of no use for me right now!! ( :p )

I'll just duct tape them and be done with it!!

    LOL...

    Thanks!!

Dont necessarily look for maternity bras per se. Just try to find you a comfy and supportive wireless. That's really all a maternity bra is anyway. The nursing bra has the flaps or whatever to expose the breasts for nursing.

Here's a link to a more sports type nursing bra from Bravado. The ladies at that expensive store talked me into it. Something about it's good to restrict your breasts at bedtime when you're nursing or something like that I can't remember. LOL!

It's very comfy and I'm glad I have that one too but again I was tired of seeing my boobs saggy or flattened and unattractive from having to go without an underwire my last few preggo months that I liked the Anita (that I mentioned earlier) better for that reason. But in the first few days and weeks I went through bras like crazy, some of us can't "hold it all in" shall we say.

I think they told me to wait until like 36 weeks to buy my nursing bras but I didn't really go up a size, just got harder and fuller. That was my second pregnancy though so that may be why?? Hope you find something that's comfy and looks nice underneath and on the outside. :)

Definitely don't get a nursing bra now - that's not what you need. Nursing bras are not great with support or minimization. Go to a department store and have them measure you and then ask them to help you find something really supportive and minimizing. I would buy two high quality bras - it's well worth the cost. I tossed mine after the pregnancy, but they were a great investment when I needed the support!
