Hello! My 6 month old DD and DS are doing great with their morning naps. I can usually get them to sleep about an hour in the morning together at the same time. But it seems like all heck breaks loose in the afternoon. I am trying to get them in sync for an afternoon nap and I can't get them to sleep at the same time. They take little cat naps off and on for like 15 minutes here and there but never at the same time. It makes for a very long day and I feel bad because my oldest is 5 and I feel like I have no time for her. I was hoping to try and get some type of afternoon routine. We have a pool and I would love to spend even 30 minutes in the pool with my older daughter. I am very thankful though because they sleep from about 8:30-8:00 at night. But by the time I get them to sleep at 8:30 I am so tired that I don't have the energy for anything else. Any advice would be appreciated.

How soon after they wake up are they going down for the morning nap? I think most people do about 2 to 2.5 hours of awake time, then the morning nap, and then 3 hours after they wake up from the morning nap they go down for the afternoon nap. Mine used to wake at 6, go back to bed around 9 or 10, get up around 11 - noon and go back down by 2:30 - 3:00.

They usually go down two hours after waking. They wake up around 8-8:30 and go down for a morning nap around 10:30-11:30. Do you think I should try for 2:30 for the afternoon nap?

At 6 months I would start soothing for an afternoon nap after about 1.5 hours of wake time. That way they are in their cribs by the 2 hour mark. HTH!

My 2 were on roughly that schedule. They used to wake up around 7 or 7:30 be back down between 10 & 10:30 then would nap again around 2:30.

We're still trying to figure out a napping routine. Mine seem to tolerate only 1.5 hours of wake time, especially in the morning. We're doing CIO for naps :-( And we're only putting them in their cribs when it's time to sleep. No more playtime in the crib. That's great that they're sleeping so well at night! I hope you're able to spend some more time with DD.
