My son started out being bigger then his twin sister, but as time has gone on, this is not the case. DS started in the 50th percentile for weight, went to 25th, dropped to the 10th, and now he is under the 10th percentile. He is in the 95th for height, just a little string bean. No one ever comments that he is small, instead they say his sister is a chunk. She has been in the 50th percentile for weight constantly.

Now that they are getting older people ask me if they are twins, which I tell them yes, obviously. People remark that dd is so much bigger then ds.

It just annoys me that everyone has to comment. I know there is a difference, and we are doing all that we can. They even ran blood work on my son just to make sure he wasn't having any protein deficiencies. All is checking out.

There is a picture in the siggy of the two of them and here is another one. Do they really look that much different?

Awww, look at those big blue eyes! They aren't that different in size to me, but even if they are that's totally normal. People just don't really think & say the first thing that pops into their heads sometimes. When they comment on the size difference, I would just remind them that, after all, they are two different babies!

They don't look that different. Even if they do, it's not like they're identical twins. Siblings are usually different sizes. People are stupid, plain and simple. I would be very annoyed about the comments as well.

Those comments would irk me too. I looked at your picture and your twins are absolutely adorable and to me, they look a lot alike!

That would bother me too! My LOs are identical and are only about 1 or 2 oz off from each other in weight but people will still stop me to ask if they are twins and will often make a comment like "oh, that one looks bigger then the other. I bet he weighs several lbs more" I just say, nope, not at all and keep going. Sorry you have to deal with it too! I know you said they weigh different but to me they look pretty similar!

 They don't look that different to me but I have two that are very different in size. You can't control that! My dd has always been at least a pound lighter and an inch or two shorter. I always hear "oh he must be older" uh yeah by a whole minute, amazing what a minute does huh?!?! Don't worry about it!
    Your kids are adorable!

Same here, but mine really are pounds different! One is just a better eater. That picture is so stinkin' cute!! Love the long eyelashes! You will be getting a ton more annoying comments as time goes on, but the good news is that since they are b/g people will stop asking if they are twins...eventually.

They are about 2 pounds a part, but an inch different in height. But, I don't see that they look 9 months apart, in order for them not to be twins. LOL!

Boy do I feel you on this one! DS is more than a pound smaller than DD and his body type is completely different. Her weight is distributed all over and he is this muscular little guy who's big on the top half and even though he's longer than she is his legs are shorter. So when they are in their stroller side by side people say the same thing to me. It drives me nuts and I don't think they understand how hard I worked to get him as big as he is. But since they are side by side people who don't know better make a direct comparison. Your babies are precious and I don't think they look that different. As long as they are healthy that's all that matters. It'll all even out in the end.

Aw they are so cute and they look very alike! I agree, some people just don't think and they really should.. stupid comments about your children can be hurtful and insensitive!
My Ruby had IUGR and is still nearly 2lb smaller than Amber, leaving us wide open to stupid comments from everyone and there Mother. Since they were born friends and family have told me that Amber is "huge" honestly it angers me as she only weighed 4lb odd herself, how has that ever been "huge" Poor Amber will growq up thinking she is fat before she even hit's her teens ;) I really have to bite my tongue somedays! I feel your frustration.

My girls are 2 pounds a part too... Everyone comments on the bigger girl and calls her chubby and chunk, etc.. I think she looks normal and healthy. Your LOs are suuuuper cute and from the pic they don't look that different - people just say the first thing that pops in their head without really thinking. Someone joked the other day and said "DIET!" about my bigger dd... I was like "heh... yeah...?" thinking in my head "Weirdo!"

    Hey Carrie its Shan...

We get the same grief and its so annoying. Warren is a little guy and is still under the 20 percentiles for everything. He's short and small but developmentally great w/ no issues. Wyatt on the other hand is a big guy like his daddy.....and looks just like him. He is in the 50's for height and weight at our last appt and 75% for head.....I bet his h/w has shot way up too they are barely 6 months and I put a 9 month footed onesie on him today and he fills the length to the toes!! He's lean though...just big. We'll find out the new stats next week at their 6th month appt. I get aggravated because people always have to say something....like the babies just HAVE to be exactly the same. Its frustrating and while I appreciate all the "congrats" and all that stuff some people always have to incinuate there is some underlying issue. Like they'd know. I lost it a week or so ago at Safeway a lady comes up to me and asks with her hands on her chest as if she is stunned at something and says "what are they?" I annoyingly answer "BABIES!" and walk off. Rude, I know. :woah:

I get that comment all the time "they dont' look like twins"
my dd is in the 95% and ds in the 40%... he crawls and moves a lot, she doesnt
    and they look nothing alike...

sometimes I tell people that I forget to feed him :), othertimes I say "excercise will do
that to you: but it is very annoying!!!

I definitely don't want any of my kids to worry about their weight, especially one of the girls.

I know it frustrates me more then it should, but like a pp said, they don't know how hard we work to even get our babies to the weight they are at.

My DS is bigger than my DD. When they were born, DS was 5.5 pounds, and DD was 5 pounds. DD is around the 40% percentile in weight and DS is 95%. He weighs 5 pounds more than his sister. I get comments all of the time about their size. Usually it's about Evan. "Wow, what are you feeding that boy?" "Wow, he's big" "Are they twins?" bla bla bla. Sometimes I just tune out and give some kind of generic answer (and keep moving quickly!).
Your twins are adorable. They look so much alike. I'm so happy to hear they are healthy. They look like the perfect size!

I loved that pic of your little ones! Made me smile, they are just too cute! Love their big blue eyes! I know exactly how you feel. I am sick and tired of people calling my DS a chunker. He is 3lbs 1oz bigger than DD. He weighs 17lbs 4oz and DD weighs 14lbs 3oz. He does look bigger than her but still he is only in the 25th percentile for both height & weight!! DD is in the 10th. Yes he is bigger than her but compared to other babies his age he is NOT a chunker! People should think before they speak!

They only compare them to each other, not to other babies their age.

Thanks for all the comments about them, too. They do have the biggest eyes, their sister has them too. I have long eyelashes, but definitely not blue eyes. They come from his mom, which is even better, because she passed away a couple years ago so it is a constant reminder of his mom.

Us too - Gavin is 25% smaller than Warren so it is very obvious they are not the same size - it is obvious to me. With some people asking are they twins I just want to tell them - no they are 4 months apart and let them figure it out (think I got that from someone here) it just gets so old. As if we are not sensitive enough about stuff like this - we certainly dont need people pointing it out to us :(

Jack was IUGR and at one point 1.5lbs smaller than Nate. We got comments all the time, and I really felt like I had to justify the discrepancy! Like I wasn't trying hard enough with Jack or something. I don't know why I felt badly about it; I don't think other people were being judgmental, but I was very sensitive about the issue.

Now they've flip-flopped and Jack weighs more than a pound more than Nate...other people (and myself!) just need to realize that they are different beings and can't be expected to be exactly alike. Just because they were in the womb together doesn't mean they are the same person!

I don't think your LO's look that much different in size, and even if they were, they are individuals. I think they look great! :D

Your exactly right! They don't know so IMO they shouldn't comment on things they know nada about? I wish it didn't bother me as much as it does too but Ruby and Amber's weight has been an issue for us since before they were born, it is a sore subject anyway. I know not everyone is meaning to be hurtful but as a private person that tries not to hurt anybody's feelings i struggle to not take offence with these sort of remarks, why can't folk just be nice!?
