DH is very interested in my water. I've let him have a few sips.

    1) Is it okay to offer small amounts of water at 6 months?

    2) When did you introduce a sippy cup?

    3) Which kind did your LOs like?

If your husband wants to drink your water I don't see anything wrong with that!

I would put a call in to the pedi to ask them about water. I don't think we started with sippy cups of water until 9 months, but I might be mistaken. I know that even if I introduced them at 6 months they had no interest in drinking out of them until around 11 months old.

As far as which kind they like, my girls will drink from pretty much any kind of cup. I think a lot of people have better luck with the Nuby ones with the soft spout b/c it's more like a bottle.

We were giving Royce small amounts of water at 7 months, but that had to do more with Royce's poop problems than anything else. I'd check with your pediatrician before offering more than an ounce or so a day.

As for sippy cups, we had avent bottles, so we bought the additions to make them sippy cups. They're okay. Once they got the hang of sippy cups, we bought the playtex ones and some munchkin straw cups.

We started sippies at 6 months with water mixed with a splash of juice (probably about 4oz)...as they got older, around 9-10 months we went to straight water.
Originally, we started off with the Nuby soft spout that the kids loved and then at a year we switched to the Munchkin Straw cups.

Oops! I meant to say DS is interested in my water, not DH.

I give them a sippy to "play" with around 6 months, or when they are sitting up good in their highchair and starting to eat stuff like gerber puffs with their fingers. My first son never liked it until I bought the playtex sports straw cup at 11 months, then he refused his bottle from that day forward, he loved the straw cups.

My first dd was just in love with her bottle, I had to finally take it away and make her drink from the sippy cup at about 13 months.

With both I started with the playtex handle cups, the only cup that had handles when my ds was young. We tried the nuby with dd but she just chewed holes in those soft nipples.

Oh yeah I do mostly water with a splash of juice for flavor :)

Around 6/7 months they dropped bottles and went straight to sippys. There is no certain one all babies like. My son will only drink out of the Dr. Brown's cups, and my daughter will drink out of any cup (she gets the hard ones).

Small amounts of water should be fine at 6 months. I gave mine sippy cups of water or water mixed with juice around 6 months. They didn't really "get it" and learn to drink from them properly for quite awhile but they would get the occasional sip which would keep them interested & keep them trying!
