spitting up is normal. unless they are in pain when they spit up i wouldn't worry about it too much.

Nothing! Some babies just spit-up. I would worry if they seem in pain/refusing to eat.

My boys are almost 11 months old, and Nate *still* spits up! I asked my ped about it and since they are gaining well and aren't in pain, he just calls it a "laundry problem". I've heard some people have success elevating their babies for 30 min. or so after feedings.

Some babies are just spitters. Luke was always spitting. He spit on everyone who picked him up. After awhile no one wanted to hold him anymore. They tend to outgrow it when they are big enough to sit up. As long as they seem comfortable & are putting on weight, it's okay.

I hate to break it to you, but I just had a day with my twins (10 months old) and it seemed like every time I turned around, there was spit up. I even almost got it in the eye. I'm SO over the spitting up. I kept hearing it would get better after they started sitting up, but it's not. They are even crawling and pulling to stand and it almost seems to be getting worse. AHHHHHH! Thanks for letting me vent.

Like everyone else said... nothing is wrong. It's completely normal, their little systems are pretty young right now too. Lots of bibs and burprags come in handy!
My girls STILL spit up, except now it's in nice techno-colors since they've started solids- fun times!

I agree, it is totally normal. Mine spit up quite a bit during the the first 6-8 months.

BK was a really bad spitter until about a month ago and it just slowly went away. It's because the sphincter muscle at the top of their tummies is not tight enough yet. For now, stock up on burp cloths...this too shall pass!

Ditto everyone else, unless they are in pain or refusing to eat, it's pretty normal.

I don't use those itty bitty burp cloths I use receiving blankets as burp cloths. They hold a lot more! :D

I use cloth diapers; nice and absorbent, and very cheap.

I too fight this battle daily. DS spits up like it's his job! :) DD never had a problem with it. At their 6 month check up this week I told the doctor I tried the prevacid for 2 days and didn't notice a single change and took him off of it. He said good because he has reflux, not gastroesophageal reflux disease and like someone else mentioned reflux is just a laundry problem. I was so convinced Owen wouldn't have gained the weight he was supposed to but he did and he's active and alert and doing fine. I just have to change his clothes more often and keep burp cloths handy. I finally just started putting a bib on him in the morning and left it on until bed time, it's much easier to change those out than outfits. Good luck and it does (SLOWLY) get better with time.

Y'know it just dawned on me that you said you use soy formula, both my kids spit up the soy formula worse than the milk based formula, have you tried regular formula yet? My dd has reflux and we were on good start, then kirklands, then walmart regular, then walmart gentle, then walmart sensitive, then walmart soy and we are now back to good start, the kids seemed to do the best on it.

My girls spit up and have the hicups after every feeding. I do find that having them sit upright for about 20 minutes helps a little.

My Ruby has reflux and was terrible for spitup and the hiccups but the last couple of weeks she has barley had any, fingers crossed she is growing out of it..i could do with less laundry!
