Someone told me recently that they take a picture of their child after they are dressed in the morning before they go on an outing for the day. If for some reason the child gets lost and separated from them, they have an accurate image of what they look like. I thought this was such an incredible idea, and just had to share it with you all!!

I heard that once before form a police officer who was doing a kid id at a class I took the girls to. I make sure when every we go to a a crowded public place I take their picture.

Yep, we do this every time we go some place. DH heard this one time and he does it every time now. :good: It's also nice so that you know exactly what clothes they are wearing that day as well.

Thats a great idea, since whenever we go on an 'outing' where they may get lost, I pretty much always have my camera anyway.

    Thanks

I dress my boys alike when we go out on potential separation locations. This way I can just point and say "he was wearing that!" Unfortunately I know all to well the importance of being able to find a kid in a crowd because we have lost William twice (once was at Disney World  ).

What a great idea. Thank you for posting this Michelle. We'll definitely start doing that when we go to crowded places. So scary!

I dress my kids in LOUD colors when we go in crowded public places (like orange, or bright green, or something). It may not be the cutest thing ever, but that way I don't lose them, and safety trumps cuteness in my book!

I do the same thing Heather, and even though I dress the girls alike most days, I most definitely do it when it comes to crowds. That way I don't have to remember who is wearing what.

I have to give huge props to Julie (Juj) :bow2: because I remembered she is the one who told me about this. :bow2:

This is a wonderful reminder. :good: I have heard it before but it was before I had kids and it got misplaced in my old brain. Thank you! :bow2:

I've heard that before. It's a great reminder. Or you can dress them alike so when you lose one at the Boston Children's Museum, you know what the other one was wearing. ;) (Of course this only works for same sex children)

That is a wonderful suggestion! I lost Aidan at the Denver Zoo when he decided to be a part of a large group of kids. The mom's in the group told me after we found him that they thought that he was just part of their group. I think I might take a few of the great suggestions. Loud clothes with picture beforehand. I try to put a recognizable hat on the kids when we head out but that isn't always possible.

That is a super idea and a great reminder!

FWIW, we lost Hannah last year at a baseball game. Unfortunately it was free jersey day for kids at Angel's stadium and when we told the police what she was wearing...well, it was the same dang red jersey EVERY kid had on! Scary.
